you had best be wearing green

The one day a year where we get to cause pain to others because they have forgotten to wear a specific color that day.  Wonderful.  So with that said, I most certainly did not forget to wear green.

I loved St. Patrick's day when I was little because my parents, I mean "leprechaun", would come to our house and give us stuff that was colored green so long as we could solve the scavenger hunt.  I'll admit, there were a couple of years where we might not have found the treasure if it hadn't been for sheer luck.  But now that all of us are grown up, our celebration of St. Patrick's day only includes wearing green and maybe eating a bowl of Lucky Charms.  I guess that isn't so bad, after all, green is a great color and that cereal is magically delicious!

the best day of the year

You might have known that March 14 was pi day, but did you know that it is also national nap day?  Two of my favorite things all combined into one special day: eating pie and taking naps.  Awesome.  

Yes, this joke still makes me laugh.  I guess that means I probably don't have any friends.

christmas has arrived

Notes on these photos:

• Those nutcrackers are my mothers and they are also my favorite Christmas decoration.
• When Raja is unhappy he is never afraid to make it known to everyone in his vicinity.  Also, when Dr. Spengler is in a box, he is happy.
• Just like Anastasia and her grandmother are "Together in Paris" Rachel, Hannah, and I are "Together in Nampa" as can be seen on the matching necklaces that we wear.
• I like owls, Kevin likes guns, and Michelle likes jellyfish.
• We don't take family photos all that often; but when we do, they show off how awesome we are.

Overall, Christmas was a total success this year.

best gift giving award goes to me

I bought Michelle a Jellyfish Mood Lamp BEFORE she bragged up how awesome it would be to receive one of these things in this blog post.  So I am hereby presenting myself with the best gift giver of the year award.  Go me.

gluttony at its finest

Thanksgiving break.  Those two words represent my first days off of school since Labor Day, and I spent at home in Salt Lake with my family.

What did I do during these few days off?  Sleep, watch movies, and of course eat a lot of food: turkey, stuffing, rolls, carrots, fruit salad, pie, sweet potatoes, and twice baked potatoes.

So, in the Taylor family there are a few traditions that are attached with Thanksgiving.

1. Have a turkey that no one really wants but feels the need to have
2. Have twice baked potatoes as opposed to mashed
3. Watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Thank you Steve Martin and John Candy for giving us a witty movie to watch to go along with the delicious potatoes and rather bland turkey.

a countdown to halloween

Most people have calendars that countdown to days until Christmas.  My roommate and I broke away from this traditional idea and instead had a countdown to Halloween.

My mom made this a few years back and I have to say it is my favorite Halloween decoration year in and year out.  I thank Kevin for giving it up this year and letting my roommate, Hannah, and I have it instead.  We greatly appreciated it.

We would trade off even and odd days, she got evens and I got odds.  Every other day offered a new surprise, and it made October go by a lot faster than it could have.  When Halloween arrived it seemed as if October hadn't even happen, it went by so quickly.

I reverted back to my age old costume of dressing up like I am from the 50s, and then made Rachel do the same.  To me the 50s represents the golden age of fashion, and I love to dress up like I am from then, and I don't just do it on Halloween.  Halloween is just an excuse to dress however I want without anyone thinking twice about it.  I love Halloween.
