dale's culinary creations

My father loves experimenting, and it doesn't matter what his tools of experimentation are.  He's an engineer, so I think that pretty much explains why he loves it so much all by itself.

From these experimentations were born some delicious things, and some disgusting things (the Bog Monster for instance, a drink of a sickly brown color that tasted just about as good as it looked).  He has agreed to let me present the recipes to you, and I have decided only the successful ones shall be presented.  Enjoy!

Recipe for the Maverik:
  • Orange juice
  • Squirt
Fill a glass halfway with Squirt, and then fill the other half with orange juice.  Will make one per glass.

Now there is some debate on the ratio of these two drinks, but according to the creator of the drink himself, that is the correct ratio.

Over the holiday break, the Orange Slider was created.  What is the Orange Slider?  Let me tell you!

Recipe for the Orange Slider:
  • Oranges sliced
  • Whipped Cream
Take an orange slice and cover both sides of it with whipped cream.  Will make about six per orange.

Basically, the Orange Slider is taking something that was once healthy and making it very unhealthy.  Excellent.

Warning: The Orange Slider tends to be a bit difficult to eat, as Michelle demonstrates so well.

how i met my brother - lily

LILY ALDRIN

The truth is Kevin is not like Lily at all.  At least, not yet.  The time will come when some characteristic of Lily's will start to show itself in Kevin.  It is only a matter of time.

how i met my brother - marshall

MARSHALL ERIKSEN

If Kevin was a lawyer, I'm pretty sure he would say Marshall's catch phrase "Lawyered."  Obviously he is not a lawyer, nor does he plan on ever becoming one.  However, while that it true, he does currently say "Owned." after he proves someone wrong in an argument.  That's close enough right?

how i met my brother - barney

BARNEY STINSON

Most of Kevin's mannerisms are just like Barney's, it's actually a little frightening as to how similar they are.  So why is Kevin so much like Barney?  Because he says things like this:

  • I'm awesome.
  • It's in the Bro Code.
  • Nothing suits me like a suit.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that he says that first one ALL THE TIME.  I won't lie, the kid is pretty awesome, I just wish he wouldn't tell me it all the time.  However, when he does tell me this, I have just come to reply, "Thank you for informing me Barney."

So yes, at many times, I have Barney Stinson as a younger brother.

how i met my brother - ted

Many of the attributes that the characters in How I Met Your Mother have, my little bro, Kevin, also has.  I have decided to create a five part saga to show you why, and this is the beginning.

TED MOSBY

You know how Ted loves correcting others?  Ya well, so does Kevin.  It is his belief that by correcting others he is bettering the world, and he will continue to correct others so long as there is something to correct.

ego vobis valedico...

MMXI
(I say goodbye to you 2011)

Thomas and Caroline got married!

Holi Festival, Utah style, with Tarah and her lovely sister Leslie.

I graduated high school!

 I traveled to Hawaii.

I met Parachute!

I moved out and started college at BYU.

The Cannon Center is delicious and Waffle Friday's was born.

I met these lovely ladies.

Dr. Egon Spengler is still pretentious and Cisco is still socially awkward.

Lucy learned to dance over Thanksgiving.

Michelle still does strange things, and those crescent rolls are still delicious.

Christmas was awesome.

christmas has arrived

Notes on these photos:
  • Those nutcrackers are my mothers and they are also my favorite Christmas decoration.
  • When Raja is unhappy he is never afraid to make it known to everyone in his vicinity.  Also, when Dr. Spengler is in a box, he is happy.
  • Just like Anastasia and her grandmother are "Together in Paris" Rachel, Hannah, and I are "Together in Nampa" as can be seen on the matching necklaces that we wear.
  • I like owls, Kevin likes guns, and Michelle likes jellyfish.
  • We don't take family photos all that often; but when we do, they show off how awesome we are.
Overall, Christmas was a total success this year.

gluttony at its finest

Thanksgiving break.  Those two words represent my first days off of school since Labor Day, and I spent at home in Salt Lake with my family.

What did I do during these few days off?  Sleep, watch movies, and of course eat a lot of food: turkey, stuffing, rolls, carrots, fruit salad, pie, sweet potatoes, and twice baked potatoes.

So, in the Taylor family there are a few traditions that are attached with Thanksgiving.

  1. Have a turkey that no one really wants but feels the need to have
  2. Have twice baked potatoes as opposed to mashed
  3. Watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Thank you Steve Martin and John Candy for giving us a witty movie to watch to go along with the delicious potatoes and rather bland turkey.

Del: You know you nearly killed me slugging me in the gut when I wasn't ready!  That's how Houdini died you know!

domo arigato, mr. roboto

I love ice cream and I love robots.  If I combine these two things together, I would.  So I did.  I went to Color Me Mine and I painted a mug with robots I had designed on it.  That is how my love of robots is represented.  My love of ice cream is represented in the size of the mug.  I figured that if I got a large mug, then that means more volume which in turn means more ice cream I can fill the mug with and the consequently consume.

My sister came with me and she has this strange fascination with organic chemistry so her mug consists of a giant reaction.  Clearly, my mug is better than hers.
